2016 Rhode Island Scholastic State Chess Championship

Format: 4SS, G/45 (everyone plays 4 rounds unless you get 1/2 point bye)
Sections: Grades K-4 Grades 5-6 Grades 7-8 Grades 9-12
Trophies to Top 3 Individual Places & Top 3 Team in Each Section. Byes in advance

NATIONAL H.S. CHAMPIONSHIP: TOP 1st PLACE R.I. GRADE 9-12 player in this Section of the Tournament will represent R.I. at the 2014 Denker U.S. National High Chess Championships
Team Competition: A school team’s total score is calculated by adding points from the top four players. Players must be from the same school (district). A team must have 3 or more players. Be sure to list your school on entry form. You will not play teammates unless for 1st place. Top three teams & individuals in each section will receive trophies. You can play as an individual; or as an individual and a team.

Door Registration: 9:00 AM to 10:00AM. Entries after 10:00 AM will receive 1/2-point bye or be paired if possible w/other late arrivals. Round 1 at 10:30AM. Grades K-6 will finish by 3:00 PM.
Please bring a clock if you have one. Boards will be provided. Food available on campus & nearby
Entry Fee: Advance Entry Only $35 if paid by 11:59pm 3/03/16, $50 at site. On-line registration preferred. Should be at site to confirm by 9:30 AM.
WALK-IN REGISTRATION WILL BE ACCEPTED FROM 9AM UNTIL 10AM.
ONLY CHECK OR CASH WILL BE ACCEPTED FOR WALK-IN REGISTRATION.

Directions: From North, take Exit 21 off I-95, turn right onto Atwells Ave. From South, take Exit 21 Broadway, at 2nd light turn left on Atwells Ave. Go 1.4 miles take right at Mt. Pleasant Ave, go straight 1.2 miles. Go thru campus to Mann Hall, right into student union parking.
